ACICS IS SEEKING CHAIRS!
ACICS is seeking qualified evaluators to become chairs. The deadline for receiving applications is JUNE 30. An ACICS selection committee will make its decision and notify qualified applicants by July 7th. There are two chair workshops scheduled – August 1 and September 26 at ACICS in Washington DC. Please keep these dates open when you apply. Travel expenses are the responsibility of the applicant, but ACICS does not charge a fee for the training workshop.
The role of chair is important to the accreditation process. It involves management experience that includes the ability and desire to function as a member of a team while:
- directing activities of the on-site evaluation by face-lifting discussions and serving as contact with the institution,
- demonstrating knowledge of the ACICS Accreditation Criteria,
- conducting interviews with key institution personnel,
- reviewing documents on-site to assess compliance with the institutions stated objectives and ACICS Accreditation Criteria,
- evaluating and reporting on areas relating to an institutions mission, organization and administration,
- writing clear, detailed team observations, including items of concern and suggestions for continual development, and
- traveling by means of air, train, automobile and shuttle bus to various destinations throughout the United States and abroad.
The minimum chair qualifications are:
- at least five years management experience in private or public post-secondary education,
- a baccalaureate degree or higher, and
- at least five years experience as an ACICS visit team member.
To be considered for the chair role, applicants must:
- Submit a completed and signed ACICS Chair Application which includes a personal statement (approximately 250 words) on why you want to become an ACICS Chair.
- Submit a current resume.
- Attend an ACICS Chair Training Workshop.
- Provide two letters of reference.
