Empire College Honored for Community Service by White House

Last December, President Obama announced through the Corporation for National and Community Service a request for applications from colleges and universities across the United States that were involved in providing community service to the communities that they serve.

Empire College, located in California and accredited by ACICS has been chosen as one of the winner “with distinction” of the “2012 President’s Higher Education Community  Service Honor Roll,” one of 110 nationwide receiving such honor and the only for-profit college in California so honored.

The formal announcement was made to the “American Council on Education” at their annual conference on March 12th.  Along with Empire College, The University of California-Berkeley received Honor Roll status, and Stanford University “with distinction” status.

“We have announced the award and thanked our wonderful staff and faculty,” said Roy O. Hurd, president and CEO. “The timing of this recognition could not be better since it fell almost exactly on our 25th anniversary with Empire College. To say that we are proud of this national recognition would be an understatement. Everyone at the College is euphoric.”
